According to a survey conducted between 2020 and 2021, nearly 42 percent of Tunisians intending to leave their country would emigrate to France. Other leading potential destinations were Saudi Arabia, Italy, Germany, and North America.

The survey included a total of 27,607 respondents, of which:
- 11,148 Tunisians non migrants;
- 6,475 returnees;
- 7,003 migrants;
- 2,981 foreigners residing in Tunisia (immigrants).
