According to a survey conducted between 2020 and 2021, among the Tunisians who were planning to emigrate, nearly 32 percent had started the visa processes. In addition, around 18 percent of the respondents had contacted relatives or friends who live abroad, while roughly 15 percent of them had searched the internet to plan their emigration.
Steps taken by Tunisians who intend to leave the country to live, work, or study abroad as of 2021
The survey included a total of 27,607 respondents, of which:
- 11,148 Tunisians non migrants;
- 6,475 returnees;
- 7,003 migrants;
- 2,981 foreigners residing in Tunisia (immigrants).
