According to a survey conducted between 2020 and 2021, most Tunisians do not intend to leave their country to live, work, or study abroad. Nearly 77 percent of the respondents, in fact, declared that they were not planning to emigrate. On the other hand, around 20 percent of the people intended to leave Tunisia, especially men.

The survey included a total of 27,607 respondents, of which:
- 11,148 Tunisians non migrants;
- 6,475 returnees;
- 7,003 migrants;
- 2,981 foreigners residing in Tunisia (immigrants).
