According to a survey on food services and cloud kitchen conducted by Rakuten Insight in August 2021, approximately 26 percent of respondents in China aged between 25 to 34 years stated that they had ordered food from virtual restaurants and cloud kitchens. Meanwhile, about 88 percent of participants who were 55 years and older in the country had not ordered food from such restaurants.

Original question: Have you ordered food from a virtual restaurant or cloud kitchen-only business? (i.e. the business does not have a dine-in space and only operates through food delivery apps and cooks its food in a cloud kitchen space)

The survey was conducted among
4,550 respondents aged 16 to 24 years old,
1,797 respondents aged 25 to 34 years old,
523 respondents aged 35 to 44 years old,
213 respondents aged 45 to 54 years old,
82 respondents aged 55 years and above.
