In fiscal year 2021, around 115 metric tons of certified organic millet were produced in Japan. The figure decreased compared to around 132 metric tons in the previous year.
Agricultural produces distributed as organic foods in Japan have to be certified under the Organic Japanese Agricultural Standards (JAS) system. The certification is done by auditors accredited by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
