In 2022, the area of certified organic orchards in Japan amounted to approximately 604 hectares. Figures continued to increase steadily throughout the past decade for both organic orchards and tea plantations, which until 2017 were included in this statistic, which in turn explains the drop of about one thousand hectares in 2018.
