In March of 2020, the Dutch government introduced a wage cost scheme to help employers pay for the wages of their employees during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which they called the NOW (Tijdelijke Noodmaatregel Overbrugging Werkgelegenheid). For the first installment of this, the NOW 1.0, 26 percent of Dutch companies applied for and received this financial compensation. This was less so for the NOW 2.0 as only 11 percent of companies received it. The NOW 3.1 and 3.2 were more used, with 14.7 percent and 14.1 percent respectively. The NOW 3.3 and NOW 4.0 were used least at 8.2 percent and 2.3 percent.
