In March of 2020, the Dutch government introduced a wage cost scheme to help employers pay for the wages of their employees during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which they called the NOW (Tijdelijke Noodmaatregel Overbrugging Werkgelegenheid). For the first installment of this, the NOW 1.0, 7.91 billion euros were spent by the government. This was less so for the NOW 2.0 as only 4.29 billion was spent. The NOW 3.1 was used less too with 2.81 million euros spent, whilst 3.25 billion euros were spent on NOW 3.2.. The NOW 3.3 and NOW 4.0 were used least with 2.01 billion and 0.30 billion euros spent.
