Konbini payment was a major cash-based payment method in online shopping in Japan as revealed in a survey conducted in September 2021. More than 20 percent of Japanese digital shoppers have settled or intended to settle their online purchases via konbini payment, with the largest user group being elderly shoppers aged 70 years and older.
The cash-based settlement method is a service offered by convenience stores in Japan, where consumers can order goods online and pay the bills at the counters of convenience stores.
