Cassava was the main crop produced in Ghana as of 2018. More than 20.8 million metric tons of the root were produced that year. Yam and plantain also achieved larger yields, at approximately 7.8 million and 4.7 million metric tons, respectively. The crops are staple foods consumed across regions in Ghana.
