In a survey conducted in 2019, the majority of respondents in the private business sector in Sub-Saharan Africa declared that they would invest between three to five percent of overall investments to digitalization, as those made up to 30 percent of total respondents. On the other hand, 17 percent said they would rather allocate less than one percent of total investments to digital development. Nevertheless, 25 percent expressed readiness to invest more than five percent.

Included in the survey were 2,993 private businesses with a turnover of at least ten million euros in 53 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. 200 private businesses from nine Sub-Saharan African countries were included and form the findings of this survey. This survey included 185 of all respondents.
