As of 2019, the majority of the surveyed private businesses in Sub-Saharan Africa reported losses in revenues due to shortage of skilled labor. Among these, 15 percent indicated significant losses, 30 percent great losses, and 34 percent slight losses. Only 21 percent of respondents said they had no losses at all due to lack of skills.

Included in the survey were 2,993 private businesses with a turnover of at least ten million euros in 53 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. 200 private businesses from nine Sub-Saharan African countries were included and form the findings of this survey.
