Number of regional bank I branches in Japan FY 2010-2022
In the fiscal year 2022, first-tier regional banks in Japan operated around 7,848 branches. Compared to the previous year, the number of regional bank I branches increased by seven. Regional banks II recorded over 2,700 branches in the same year. Regional banks operate in a single region and provide banking services to residents and local small and medium-sized businesses. The Bank of Yokohama and the Bank of Fukuoka are among the leading regional banks by assets.
