A 2021 survey of tech industry and policy experts conducted in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany and France revealed that 76 percent of respondents claimed that misinformation and disinformation were the issues worst handled by tech companies. Furthermore, 64 percent of respondents said that such companies are not doing a good job of handling issues related to data privacy, data protection and data sharing.
Should these issues be formally addressed in regulations?
Given the growing concern about data privacy and technology and negative opinions on how tech companies seek to solve those issues, tech policy professionals and policy experts surveyed around the world believe that new legislation and regulations should cover potential tech issues, with cybersecurity and data privacy being of particular concern.
Is digital privacy a primary concern also for individuals?
Digital privacy is becoming a major concern also for individuals. Indeed, a survey conducted at the beginning of 2021 reveals that people feel that tech companies have too much control over their personal information and are worried about it. For instance, most people surveyed in the U.S. reckoned it to be extremely or very important to hold control of their own personal data and how it is shared.
