Among the ten largest banks in the Nordic countries, in terms of total assets, the Swedish bank SEB AB reported the lowest cost to income ratio (43 percent) in 2021. On the other hand, the cost to income ratio of OP Financial Group was almost 69 percent, which was the largest value among the selected banks. Measuring a company's cost of running operations in relation to its operating income, the cost to income ratio is a key measure in determining the profitability of a bank. Lower ratios mean that a bank is running more profitably.
