Share of hours worked from home Netherlands 2020, by sector

Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, many households in the Netherlands had to work from home, which is apparent in this survey data. In all of the working sectors, the share of hours spent working from home instead of working in the office has increased. The most significant increase occurred in the government sector where, before the pandemic, 11 percent were working in the office, compared to 35 percent afterward, a percentage point increase of 24. The largest share of hours worked from home was in the financial services sector, where 41 percent of hours worked were from home, an increase of 23 percentage points compared to before the pandemic. After the pandemic, the largest share of people working at the office was in the construction sector at 88 percent, a change of only four percentage points, which is then tied lowest.
