According to a 2021 survey conducted by Rakuten Insight in South Korea, around 41 percent of respondents aged between 35 and 44 years old stated that they had ordered food from ghost kitchens based on good reviews. This was the leading reason among all age groups with the exception of respondents aged 55 years and older, who were drawn in by the comparatively cheaper prices.

So-called ghost kitchens or cloud kitchens refer to professional cooking establishments that focus solely on preparing delivery-only food, with no options to eat in.
