According to a 2021 survey conducted by Rakuten Insight in South Korea, half of respondents aged between 25 and 34 years stated that they knew what the term ghost or cloud kitchen meant. Around 70 percent or more of respondents across all age groups had heard of the term, though many did not know what it referred to. Another one in five had not heard of ghost kitchens.

So-called ghost kitchens or cloud kitchens refer to professional cooking establishments that focus solely on preparing delivery-only food, with no options to eat in.
