According to a 2021 survey conducted by Rakuten Insight in South Korea, around 46 percent of respondents stated that they had heard of so-called ghost or cloud kitchens, and knew what the term meant. Another 28 percent had also heard of the term, but did not know what it referred to. Other terms used to refer to this concept are dark kitchen, and virtual kitchen or restaurant.
