Multichannel e-commerce revenue in Germany rose from close to 2.9 billion euros in the 3rd quarter of 2020 to 3.5 billion euros in the 3rd quarter of 2021. At an over 21 percent inter-annual growth rate, multichannel was the fastest-growing online sales business type in the German market in that period, even if online marketplaces were the most revenue-generating. Direct-to-consumer (D2C) e-commerce, in turn, accounted for 880 million euros worth of sales in the third quarter of 2021, up from 730 million a year earlier.
