According to a 2021 survey conducted by Rakuten Insight in South Korea, around 39 percent of men stated that they had not ordered food from a ghost or cloud kitchen as they did not know what that is, with a similar share of women saying the same. Other common reasons for not ordering from ghost kitchens were not wanting to try a new business one had not heard of before and not trusting food establishments that had no physical location for customers to dine in.

So-called ghost kitchens or cloud kitchens refer to professional cooking establishments that focus solely on preparing delivery-only food, with no options to eat in.
