The annual number of passengers of the Brussels rapid transit system (Métro) reported an overall increase between 2010 and 2019, despite small fluctuations. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the ridership of the underground system in the Belgian capital dropped by 46 percent compared with 2019 levels and stood at 87.6 million passengers.
