In 2020, Trento ranked as the most sustainable city in Italy, with a score of 84.71 points. Reggio-Emilia and Mantova, in the North as well, ranked second and third, respectively, while Cosenza, in the South, followed.
The index score is assigned on the basis of 18 indicators that take into account six main topics: air, water, waste, mobility, urban environment, and energy
