From before to during the coronavirus pandemic, the share of respondents who shopped via mobile websites increased by an average of 48 percentage points worldwide. Mobile purchases via app experienced a similar increase, up by 45 percentage points.
Of the regions included in the study, the Middle East exhibited the most significant jump in mobile shopping, with a nearly 90 percentage point rise in both web and app purchases. It was followed by Europe, with 62 and 47 percentage points growth in mobile web and app shopping, respectively. In contrast, in North America, mobile purchases via apps grew slightly more than those made via websites.
