In 2021, the overall food security environment score for Egypt was 56 points. This was a decline compared to the previous year when the score was at 60.8. From 2012 onwards, Egypt achieved its highest score in the overall food security index in 2015. Food affordability, availability, quality and safety as well as sustainability and adaptation, make up the four major categories of the Global Food Security Index (GFSI).
