Over time, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic drove consumers towards changed shopping attitudes, making this new behavior the new normal. As of August 2021, approximately 45 percent of consumers in Canada said they had reduced the amount of non-essential purchases they make, compared to pre-COVID-19 times. Nearly a third of Canadians also made a habit of comparing prices and products before making a purchase.
