In 2023 a survey on Christmas sales expectations of leading retailers in Australia found that 14 percent of senior executives expected a two to five percent growth in sales. Overall, around 57 percent of the retailers surveyed expect sales growth in the 2023 holiday period.

Survey question: Do you expect Christmas sales to exceed the previous Christmas trading period?
The Deloitte Retailers' Christmas Survey is based on a survey of senior executives of leading retailers in the Australian market.
The respondents are executive and senior management from a cross section of retailers inclusive of listed, private and foreign owned businesses.
The selection of participants is intended to provide a representative sample of large and small businesses, with most participants made up of the sub-1000 employee segment.
The geographic reach of participants is distributed between Australia, New Zealand and global retailers.
