Sanitation and water facilities availability in Burundi 2019
In Burundi, around 94 percent of the population had limited handwashing facilities as of 2019. Moreover, 39 percent used unimproved sanitation facilities, while 58 percent of people in Burundi used improved sanitation facilities. Improved sanitation facilities are facilities that are not shared with other households and includes flush/pour flush to piped sewerage systems, septic tanks or pit latrines, ventilated improved pit latrines, composting toilets, or pit latrines with slabs.
