Sanitation and water facilities availability in DR Congo 2019
In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, about 38 percent of the population had limited handwashing facilities as of 2019. Roughly four out of 10 Congolese, on the other hand, had no handwashing facility at home. Moreover, 36 percent used improved sanitation facilities. This means that almost four in 10 people in the Democratic Republic of the Congo was using an improved sanitation facility which includes improved facilities such as flush or pour flush to piped sewerage systems, septic tanks or pit latrines, ventilated improved pit latrines, composting toilets or pit latrines with slabs.
