The annual number of passengers of the streetcar system in Berlin, Germany, also known as "Straßenbahn" increased gradually between 2014 and 2019, peaking at 208 million passengers transported. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, ridership of Berlin tram declined approximately 25 percent, compared with the 2019 level. The downward trend continued in 2021 when the number of tram passengers dropped to 131.8 million.
