In September 2021, the United States' House Committee on Science, Space and Technology passed a bill that earmarks investments worth almost 2.8 billion U.S. dollars for fusion energy-related projects and research. These investments are planned to be made gradually over the following decade. The investments include, among other things, 1.3 billion U.S. dollars for U.S. contributions to the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER).
