In 2022, a total of 67.8 billion U.S. dollars were invested by China in countries of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), of which 22.8 billion U.S. dollars went to East Asia. In that year, around 8.8 billion U.S. dollars of Chinese investments were directed to European BRI countries.
