In the fiscal year 2022, class-1 correspondence delivery services accepted approximately 14.54 million items, representing the highest-volume correspondence service type. Class-1 service is the delivery of correspondence items with dimensions exceeding 73 centimeters or weight surpassing four kilograms. Reforming its postal services in 2007, Japan introduced permits for corporations to engage in designated segments of the correspondence delivery business on which the public administration formerly had a monopoly.
