The volume of gasoline displaced in the United States due to the increased use of light-duty electric vehicles has steadily risen to some 500 million gallons. This was over fourfold the volume in 2015, which reached some 111 million gallons. All-electric vehicles were responsible for 72 percent of the 2020 gasoline displacement.
