In 2018, 8.3 percent of people in Europe who were classed as obese were living with bothersome tinnitus, while a further 2.3 percent of people with obesity had severe tinnitus. Tinnitus is defined as the conscious perception of an auditory sensation in the absence of a corresponding external stimulus.
