A global online user survey found that avid gamers were more likely to follow gaming influencers than casual gamers. As of July 2021, 20 percent of respondents who played video games for at least 11 hours per week followed gaming influencers like Twitch streamers or YouTubers, whereas only 15 percent of overall gaming audiences (with at least one hour of gaming per week) did the same. Gamers from India, Indonesia, and China were most enthusiastic about following gaming influencers, with approximately a quarter of all gamers and around 30 percent of avid gamers doing so.

According to the source: "The insights in this report series are drawn from a recent global Custom survey on the global influencer sector and, specifically, the gaming influencer landscape today, covering 17 global markets and nearly 19,000 respondents" Respondents were aged 16+ in Australia and China, all other markets were 18+.
