Digital voice assistants are versatile and can be used with different devices. A 2021 survey carried out in Germany showed that Siri, the voice assistant service of Apple, was mostly used on mobile phones (86 percent). Two-thirds of German respondents used Google Assistant on their phones as well. On the contrary, Amazon Alexa was used with smart speakers in 67 percent of cases, as Amazon Echo was one of the first smart speaker introduced to the mass public and has a leading market share.
