The number of passengers who enter the Chicago rapid transit system, also known as the "L", on a weekday reported an overall decline between 2015 to 2019. In 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the average weekday ridership of the "L" plummeted 57.6 percent, compared with 2019 levels.
