According to a survey of smartphone users conducted between December 2020 and January 2021 in ten markets worldwide, almost four in ten respondents received unsolicited messages or spam on their mobile device. Phishing attempts via text messages were almost as common as phishing e-mail attempts, with 25 percent and 29 percent of respondents reporting having experienced this type of mobile security threat, respectively.
