The value of outstanding loans to the corporate sector in Canada grew overall during the period from 2016 to 2023. In particular, between January 2020 and March 2020, there was fast growth, as the value increased from around 481 billion Canadian dollars to around 526 billion during those months. Over the following months, the value decreased before growing again, reaching an amount of 708 billion Canadian dollars in October 2023 - the highest value during the whole period.
