Sanitation and water services at health care facilities in Nigeria 2021
In Nigeria, about 35.5 percent of health facilities had basic hygiene services as of 2021. This means that they had functional hand hygiene facilities (with water and soap and/or alcohol-based hand rub) available at points of care and within five meters from toilets. Furthermore, around 35 percent of the healthcare facilities had waste management services. In such facilities, there were limited separation and/or treatment and disposal of sharps and infectious waste, but not all requirements for basic service were met.
