According to a survey conducted between May and August 2020, just over 90 percent of households in rural India were enrolled in the Social Protection Program under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) package for food transfers. In comparison, around 81 percent of urban Indian households were enrolled to receive food aid. In general, a larger share of rural household were enrolled for food and cash transfers.
