The share of people in Japan who think that magazines offer trustworthy information amounted to 18.3 percent in fiscal year 2023. Except for fiscal year 2016, the share of respondents who trusted magazines as a source of information consistently remained below 20 percent in recent years.

*The source counts the answers of the survey conducted in December 2023 as figures for fiscal year 2023. The Japanese fiscal year starts on April 1 of the stated year and ends on March 31 of the following year. Figures for previous years are based on earlier surveys, each with a sample size of 1,500 respondents.
Data prior to fiscal year 2022 come from previous reporting.
Respondents were asked to which degree magazines offered information that can be trusted. There were five possible answers: "One can trust all of it," "One can trust most of it," "About half and half," "One can only trust a part of it," "One cannot not trust it at all." The values shown in this statistic represent the combined share of respondents who answered either "One can trust all of it" or "One can trust most of it."
