The extractive sector contributed around 1.9 trillion Tanzanian shillings (TZS) - around 701.2 million U.S. dollars - to Tanzania's government revenue in the financial year 2021/2022. Mining companies added around 1.5 trillion TZS (551.3 million U.S. dollars) to the revenue collected by the government, while oil and gas companies contributed approximately 319 billion TZS (117.7 million U.S. dollars).
