In a survey conducted in Japan during fiscal year 2023 almost 32 percent of people in their fifties stated that the internet offers trustworthy information. Trust in the reliability of the internet as a source of information was lower among the other age cohorts.

*The source counts the answers of the survey conducted in December 2023 as figures for fiscal year 2023. The Japanese fiscal year starts on April 1 of the stated year and ends on March 31 of the following year.
Respondents were asked to which degree the internet offered information that can be trusted. There were five possible answers: "One can trust all of it," "One can trust most of it," "About half and half," "One can only trust a part of it," "One cannot not trust it at all." The values shown in this statistic represent the combined share of respondents who answered either "One can trust all of it" or "One can trust most of it."
