As of 2021, Egypt, South Africa, Uganda, Nigeria, and Kenya led in the number of infrastructure projects in Africa. Nigeria counted 55 construction projects valued at just over 100 billion U.S. dollars. Ghana had 47projects, while Egypt and South Africa registered 42 and 37 projects, respectively. Overall, Africa had more than 380 construction projects that same year.

"To qualify for inclusion, infrastructure construction projects are required to be valued at over US$50m. For this year’s edition, projects must have broken ground, but not yet been commissioned by 1 June 2021".
