More than 61 percent of the respondents to a survey conducted in Japan during fiscal year 2023 stated that newspapers offer trustworthy information. While an almost equally high share of respondents stated the same about television, trust in the internet as well as magazines was considerably lower.

*The source counts the answers of the survey conducted in December 2023 as figures for fiscal year 2023. The Japanese fiscal year starts on April 1 of the stated year and ends on March 31 of the following year.
Respondents were asked to which degree each medium offered information that can be trusted. There were five possible answers: "One can trust all of it," "One can trust most of it," "About half and half," "One can only trust a part of it," "One cannot not trust it at all." The values shown in this statistic represent the combined share of respondents who answered either "One can trust all of it" or "One can trust most of it."
