According to a survey conducted in Japan during fiscal year 2023, more than 91 percent of respondents aged 60 to 69 years old stated that television is an important source of information. The share of people who thought this way was lower among the younger age cohorts.

*The source counts the answers of the survey conducted in December 2023 as figures for fiscal year 2023. The Japanese fiscal year starts on April 1 of the stated year and ends on March 31 of the following year.
Respondents were asked how important they regarded television as "a means to gain information (source of information)." There were five possible answers: "Very important," "Important to a certain degree," "Neither," "Not really important," "Absolutely not important." The values shown in this statistic represent the combined share of respondents who answered either "Very important" or "Important to a certain degree."
Sample size of age groups: 13 to 19 years: n=140 20 to 29 years: n=217 30 to 39 years: n=241 40 to 49 years: n=313 50 to 59 years: n=319 60 to 69 years: n=270
