Public attitudes towards war refugees in selected Latin American countries 2024
In 2024, Brazil was the most welcoming country in Latin America to refugees fleeing war or persecution, with 82 percent of respondents agreeing that people should be able to seek refuge in other countries, including Mexico. Meanwhile, Chile was the only country with less than 70 percent support for accepting refugees fleeing war, and had the highest disagreement rate, at 27 percent, among the selected Latin American countries this year.
