In 2020, nine African countries had protection against discrimination based on sexual orientation in employment in Africa. This corresponded to 17 percent of the countries in Africa. Most of these countries are located in Southern Africa. Worldwide, 81 countries protected people from discrimination based on sexual orientation in employment.
